Italian Cuisine
The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

The place has a nice atmosphere. Italian music playing and not too loud. It was very clean and not cluttered like many Italian restaurants. However... When I arrived the host seated me promptly. But while waiting for my waitress, I saw the hostess seat 3 more couples. Each time she walked to the table, sat the menus down, and then walked away. All 3 times the patrons were not even sitting yet before she walked away. One couple started to ask a question but she was already away from the table and talking on the phone. I was shocked that the host and hostess did not take the time to welcome someone to the restaurant and then explain both menus. It started the evening wrong. The guys serving bread and water were fantastic. They brought bread and water to the table right away. They smiled and greeted me. Every time my glass was slightly empty they were right there. The Server was nice. She got the order right and times the courses perfectly. Most of all, the food was fantastic. But the restaurant really needs to work with their host and hostess.

We have been to Bruno's on 4 different occasions. The food and service have been consistently good. There has been no wait when we have gone, so that is always a plus. The menu is pretty familiar and the food is basic Italian. We have enjoyed it.

Overall, the food was average. The calamari appetizer was nicely done, but the bruschetta was not. I It consisted of 2 long pieces of bread with only a partial spread on some of it, topped by large slices of tomato, and then covered in black olives and chopped onion. It was not warm and very bland. The waiter was nice, but service was bad, and slow. We had to ask for wine glasses, silverware, etc. We ordered a bottle of wine for the table, and instead of having the actual bottle brought to the table, and uncorking it for us, we were brought 2 carafes of what we can only hope was the wine we ordered. I would not be surprised to discover that one carafe was filled with wine from a previously opened bottle from another night, as it had more of an acidic taste.

My boyfriend and I had eaten at Bruno's about 10 years ago when we moved into the area. We both thought it was so bad that we never went back to it. But, recently, we decided to give it another try. We were so incredibly disappointed in the food and even more so when we received the nearly $100 tab, before tip! We should have went with the first clue in that it was a Saturday night, about 7 pm and there were only 4 couples in the entire restaurant, while all the other restaurants in the area were on a waiting list. The bread was just plain white crusted bread, but they gave you about 8 slices with a tasteless butter. We first ordered a small house salad each, which was only $2.99 each. The tomatoes were almost frozen, 3 cucumber slices (some were the ends) and iceberg lettuce. Oh well, it was only $2.99. They had 2 specials that night, so we thought we would each try a special to get a feel for their food "that they're proud of." Bruno was walking by our table when we were about to order and he nodded that "yes, we should try the specials" that our waiter was telling us about. One was a chicken marsala dish. 2 small (or 1 split) flattened chicken breast, 3 shrimps in a brown gravy sauce on top of spaghetti. Horrible! Chicken was edible, but shrimp was tough and gravy was a beef bouillion sauce. I can't eat beef and didn't expect a "chicken dish" to contain even a beef flavor. My boyfriend ordered the other special which was Manicotti, Lasagna & Fettuccine Alfredo. He said it was all inedible. The beef Manicotti was so bad that he thought the beef was spoiled. The Fettuccine Alfredo was way worse than a jarred sauce and the Lasagna was barely better than Stouffers. They did not have the price of the specials listed and we were not told before ordering. But, they were certainly not worth the $19.99 price tag on each plate (not a large portion either). We had 2 carafes of house Chianti (which are only 1/2 pint each), so we are guessing it is about $15 per 1/2 pint. Ridiculous for a house (box) wine. When looking at the wine list, I didn't see any brand name of wines, just the kind of wine. So, quality is not there. Will not go back ever (not even in another 10 years) and would highly recommend you spend your $s elsewhere.

I can't say this is the best Italian food I've ever eaten, but def not the worst either. Given the price, quality of food and the earnest service, I think this place deserved 3 stars. If you go here for dinner, better be prepared to be seriously full when you are done. I thought everything was a little too oily/cheesy, but then we are in Arkansas, after all. The waiter and the chef/owner were really nice & friendly guys, which helped make this a pleasant experience. Decent food at a reasonable price.

Probably the worst experience I have had in a very long time. We came here to "carb load" the night before the Little Rock marathon. We chose an authentic family place instead of some chain restaurant. We called, made a reservation but still waited 30 minutes for our table because they wrote down the wrong time. We had the worst waiter in the world who wouldn't even refill our waters. Next our friends food was forgotten. Finally the food was absolutely awful. We left 80% of the food on the table. The food was bland and comparable to frozen lean cuisines. Awful service, awful food, incredibly dirty facility. Do not waste your time even walking into this establishment.

Could it be...another restaurant brought to us by the owner/chef of the former Amore, Mona Lisa, Da Vinci's, La Bella Luna, and Due Amiche restaurants? Why yes, it most definitely is. Which isn't a bad thing if they settle down and stay for awhile. It's named Bruno's Italian Bistro, in the former Bruno's Little Italy location...yet the two aren't related. Smart marketing, I'd say! Draw in a few of the former Bruno's customers and convert them into fans of the new Bruno's food. We visited during opening week, so the negative was that they were still waiting on the liquor license. However, the food was delicious- the lasagna in particular! Service was so-so. Prices were standard. The interior could use some upgrades. That's all I have for now, my friends.

I'm giving this 3 stars mainly because of the service. Bruno was very nice and our waiter (James?) was authentically southern, very friendly, joked a lot with us, very attentive to our needs and wants. Fantastic service. This truly made our experience a good one. Portions were huge. I only gave it 3 stars because I thought the food was too salty. Maybe it was just what I ordered (Tour of Italy), but I've been to LOTS of Italian restaurants (mainly in Chicago, cause that's where we live), and Brunos food was average at best to me.

Best Italian in Little Rock! I have been there 3 times in the past two weeks!

To begin, I'm being charitable by giving this place two stars, so take that for what it's worth. We went for lunch on a whim, since we didn't care at all for the old Bruno's and wanted to see if the new restaurant was any better. The interior was certainly cleaner, but the food was only marginally improved over what had been served at the older joint ((Bruno's Little Italy). The fresh bread brought to our table had not risen and was a steaming lump of dough on the inside. This could have been easily seen when it was sliced prior to bringing it out, but it came, anyway - and brought out by the owner nonetheless. Why would the owner bring us unbaked dough???? Likewise, the stuffed pizza was also incompletely cooked. What was thought to be melted cheese was really uncooked pizza dough. Appetizing, yes? When this was brought o the owner's attention, the meal was taken off the bill without asking for it to be done. Credit for at least stepping up to do that. On the plus - and this is the only plus - side, the marinara sauce was pretty decent as was the service. Unless you count bringing uncooked bread to the table. My advice is: Skip this place for lunch. Maybe dinner would be an improvement, but I'll have to let someone else decide that, because I won't be going back anytime soon.

Expensive. Service was ok. Apparently it's a lot better than some other place I hadn't really heard of. Just a bit too pricey for what u get in my humble opinion

Not to be confused with the original Bruno's family of Little Rock, but some other guy who's name happens to be Bruno as well. And this place just happens to be in the old Bruno's location. I felt that this resturant had potential but didn't make the cut. The food was pretty good. I liked the sauce a lot. But the dishes (stuffed mushrooms, baked ravioli and a stromboli) were all one note. It needed a bit of freshness or pizzaz to finish the plates off. The "bones" of the food was there (a good sauce is hard to come by...most are canned crap but his is actually good) just the little extras in terms of spice and taste and freshness wern't. Even a sprinkle of lemon zest or chopped fresh parsley would of made all the difference. Honestly, the food kind of tasted like your usual take out subs etc. but served with white table cloth. This is what I felt lacked altogether: 1. ) The place smelled like mop water which almost made me leave and is the biggest reason I will never eat there again...sorry...I just have nightmares about that smell....gross. 2. ) The decor is run down and needs an updating. 3.) There was no music when I was there, just dead silence. 4. )The ice tea tasted funky and didn't have any ice or lemon in it. 5. )The sliver ware is cheap so the forks would bend easily and actually hurt my hand to hold! 6. )The wait staff seemed confused. Different waiters would come by to ask the same question. 7) Bruno himself seems like a control freak - he wants to be the waiter, the host, the cashier, and the chief. He was annoying me, to be frank. And the food wasn't fabulous and addictive enough to excuse all that. (I have no problem eat in dumps if the food is awesome). To be frank, the strombolis and subs etc. at NYPD pizza are better tasting.
